Adding the ipushpull Microsoft Teams app to other chats and channels

Once you’ve installed the ipushpull app, you can add the bot and live data tabs to other Teams chats and channels.

1. Adding ipushpull to other chats and channels

In Teams, click the Apps button in the bottom left corner.

Enter ipushpull in the Search all apps box, then select the ipushpull App

If the app has already been installed, Teams will display a dropdown giving you a choice of options:

  • select Open to open your ipushpull Personal App

  • select Add to a team to add the app to a Team or Team channel (see section 1.1)

  • select Add to a chat to add the app to a Chat (see section 1.2)

1.1 Adding to a team

If you choose Add to a Team then a popup will be displayed to let you search for and choose the Team you want to add the app to:

After you have chosen a Team, the Set up dropdown will be activated. You can choose to add a live data tab or the data on demand bot to your team:

Go to section 2 if you add a tab, or section 3 if you add a bot.

1.2 Adding to a chat

If you choose Add to a chat then a popup will be displayed to let you search for and choose the Chat you want to add the app to:

After you have chosen a Team, the Set up dropdown will be activated. You can choose to add a live data tab or the data on demand bot to your chat:

Go to section 2 if you choose to set up a tab, or go to section 3 if you set up a bot.

2. Using the Tab App in other chats or channels

When you add the ipushpull Tab App it will appear as a tab at the top of your chat or channel. You can configure the app so that it always shows the same ipushpull page or leave it flexible so that you can select different pages when you need them.

After you choose Set up a tab - if you are not already logged in, the login popup will be displayed:

Once you have logged in you can choose a default page to display in the Tab App. If you choose a default page then this page will always be displayed in the tab and you will not be able to change it. The same page will be displayed to all team or chat members. This is useful if you want to display e.g. some live prices that you need to refer to frequently.

If you don’t choose a default page then, once the tab has been added to your channel or chat, you can switch between pages whenever you like. Regardless of what you choose, an ipushpull tab will be displayed at the top of the chat or channel, alongside the chat tab.

All other users in the chat or channel can also use the tab. However, they have to log in using their own login details and they can only pull data from ipushpull pages they have access to. See this page for more details about using the app.

3. Using the bot in other chats and channels

When you add the ipushpull bot to one of your chats or channels it acts like a new user in the chat. Note that it cannot read any of the messages in the channel unless you mention it by typing @ipushpull.

As long as you mention the bot you can use it as if you were in your one-to-one chat with it. See this page for the full set of commands the bot understands. For example:

Note that all users in the channel can see the data returned by a bot command, even if they don’t have access to the ipushpull page you’ve pulled.

All other users in the chat or channel can also use the bot. However, they have to log in using their own login details and they can only pull data from ipushpull pages they have access to.
