Buttons and how to add them to ipushpull pages in Symphony
This page describes how to add buttons to your ipushpull pages. Buttons can do the following:
Show a dropdown list of options
Rotate through a set of options
Open a Symphony chat with a specified user
Trigger one or more Tasks
All these options can be configured for a page by selecting the Tools | Cell Actions menu option.
How do I create a Dropdown?
Dropdowns display a list of selectable options when the user clicks on a cell. To create a dropdown list like this:
Follow these steps:
Select the BUTTONS tab
Enter a Name for your new dropdown
Select the Range of cells you want to convert to dropdowns and click USE THESE CELLS
Choose DROPDOWN from the choice bar
Enter the set of Options you want to appear in the Dropdown
Click the green ADD button
Click the blue SAVE ACTIONS button
Your config will look something like this:
How do I create a Rotate button?
Rotate buttons loop through a set of options when the user clicks on the cell. To create a rotate button follow these steps:
Select the BUTTONS tab
Enter a Name for your new rotate
Select the Range of cells you want to convert to rotates and click USE THESE CELLS
Choose ROTATE from the choice bar
Enter the set of Options you want to appear in the rotate
Click the green ADD button
Click the blue SAVE ACTIONS button

How do I create a button that opens a chat?
Chat buttons pop open a Symphony chat with a specified user when you click on them. You can configure different chats to open depending on a value in the current row. By default, the button will open the default chat for the page.
To create a button that opens a chat like this:
Follow these steps:
Select the BUTTONS tab
Enter a Name for your new chat button
Select the Range of cells you want to convert to Chat buttons and click USE THESE CELLS
Choose CHAT from the choice bar
Enter pairs of Cell Values (e.g. Dan) and Email Addresses (e.g. demo1@ipushpull.com). Now, when a user presses a button with the value 'Dan', a Symphony chat with the user 'demo1@ipushpull.com' will be opened. You can also enter Symphony Conversation IDs here.
Click the green ADD button
Click the blue SAVE ACTIONS button

How do I create a button that triggers a task?
All button types can trigger Task e.g. update a value in another cells, send a notification into chats, open the Share on Symphony dialog etc. To create a button that simply triggers an task without also being e.g. a dropdown, follow these steps:
Select the BUTTONS tab
Enter a Name for your new basic button
Select the Range of cells you want to convert to basic buttons and click USE THESE CELLS
Choose BUTTON from the choice bar
Select Single Task Action to create a default task for this button
Click the green ADD button
Click the blue SAVE ACTIONS button
Your config will look something like this:
Note that you configure the Tasks that your buttons should perform on the Task tab.
